Every living thing moves along a thread of fate — the sum of its choices, its momentum, its likelihood. You do not predict the thread. You reach into it and cut.

Choose a creature you can see within 30 meters. The target must make a Resolve skill check contested by your Magic skill.

Stunts

Frayed Ends

When Sever Thread’s Disadvantage effect ends (naturally or early), the target must make one final Resolve vs difficulty 5 check. On a failure, the target takes mental damage equal to the margin of failure. If its Mental Stress Pool is at 0 and it takes a Mental Consequence, it suffers Dazed for 1 turn as the fate thread snaps back.

Tangled Fate

You may choose a second target within 5 meters of the primary. That creature takes Mental damage equal to half the margin of failure (rounded down) as fraying threads of fate lash outward.

Severed Luck

While under the Disadvantage effect, the target also cannot benefit from Advantage on any roll — sources of Advantage are negated entirely rather than simply cancelled out.

Extended Severance

The duration of the Disadvantage effect increases from a number of turns equal to your Magic skill to a number of scenes equal to half your Magic skill (rounded up), as the damage to the fate thread festers rather than closing.

Fate Consumption

If the target’s Physical or Mental Stress Pool is reduced to 0 while under Sever Thread, you immediately regain 5 Mana as the consumed fate thread feeds back into your own reserves.
