Every place that has held strong emotion or significant event keeps a residue of it — not memory exactly, but impression. The stones remember what passed between them. You know how to ask.

You touch a location, object, or corpse and receive a vision of the most significant event that occurred involving it within the past 30 days. The vision is sensory: you see, hear, and feel the impression of what happened, but you cannot interact with it.

The vision lasts up to 1 minute of perceived time and cannot be extended. After the vision ends, you gain the following from the GM:

You may cast this spell on the same location or object multiple times, but each casting only ever reveals one event per cast, and repeated casts on the same object do not reveal the same event twice.

Stunts

Deep Archive

The range of events Echo Read can perceive extends from 30 days to 1 year.

Directed Query

Instead of the most significant event, you may specify a creature by name or description. If that creature was involved in any event at the location within range, the spell reveals the most recent event involving them instead.

Lingering Impression

After the vision, you retain a heightened sensory awareness of the location for 1 hour. You gain +2 to all Perception checks made in or immediately around the same space.

Residual Trace

After casting Echo Read on a creature or object, you can sense the direction and approximate distance to any other objects or locations connected to the event you witnessed for up to 24 hours.

Forced Extraction

You may cast Echo Read on a living, unwilling creature instead of a location or object. The target must make a Resolve vs your Magic check. On a failure, you receive a vision of the target’s most emotionally significant memory from the past 30 days. On a success, the spell fails and the Mana is spent.
