You alter the gravitational relationship between a creature and the earth beneath it — not crushing it outright, but making its own body feel like a burden it was never built to carry.
Choose a creature you can see within 30 meters. The target must make a Fortitude skill check contested by your Magic skill.
-
On a failure, the creature takes Physical damage plus your Magic Skill equal to the margin of failure and its movement speed is reduced to 0 until the start of its next turn.
-
While the spell persists, the target must repeat the Fortitude check at the start of each of its turns. On a failure, it takes damage equal to the new margin of failure and its speed is again reduced to 0 until its next turn.
-
Flying creatures that fail the initial check immediately lose the ability to fly and begin to fall.
Stunts
Crushing Gravity
Creatures that fail the initial Fortitude check by 3 or more are also knocked Prone as their legs buckle under the imposed weight.
Shared Burden
The target also suffers a -1 penalty to attack rolls while under the effect of Weight of Stone, as the strain of movement impairs its striking capability.
Grounding Field
The effect extends to two targets instead of one. Make separate Magic rolls for each.
Tectonic Grip
While concentrating on Weight of Stone, the target cannot be moved by any external force — push effects, teleportation, and forced movement all fail while the weight anchors it to the ground.
Collapse
When Weight of Stone ends for any reason, the sudden release of gravitational pressure causes the target to lurch. It must make a Reflex vs difficulty 2 check or fall Prone.
