Matter is not as permanent as it believes itself to be. You remind a creature’s body of this truth — loosening the binding forces that hold its physical form in coherent shape, letting it come slightly undone.
Choose a creature you can see within 30 meters. The target must make a Fortitude skill check contested by your Magic skill.
-
On a failure, the creature takes Physical damage equal to the margin of failure plus your Magic Skill as its form partially destabilises.
-
Until the start of your next turn, the target’s Physical Defense is reduced by 2 as its material coherence wavers.
-
This spell has no effect on undead, constructs, or creatures without a physical form.
Stunts
Deep Dissolution
The Physical Defense reduction increases from 2 to 3 and lasts for 2 rounds instead of 1.
Elemental Vulnerability
The destabilised form also loses 1 Elemental Defense for the duration, as the binding that gives the creature its natural resistances weakens alongside its structure.
Cascading Unravel
If the target fails by 3 or more, one additional creature within 5 meters of the target must make the same Fortitude check or suffer half the Physical Defense penalty (rounded down) for 1 round.
Exposed Core
While the target’s Physical Defense is reduced by Unravel Form, any Piercing damage it takes ignores all remaining Physical Defense, not just the reduced amount.
Persistent Unravelling
At the end of the target’s turn, if it has not received magical healing or ended the effect through any means, it takes 1 additional Physical damage.
