You curse a creature with an ill effect, causing persistent trouble or hardship. The target makes a Resolve skill check against your Magic skill. On a failure, the target is cursed. The curse lasts for a duration equal to the number of turns the caster’s Magic skill.
Once you curse a creature, you cannot curse the same creature again until its curse ends or is removed. You may have a maximum number of active curses equal to your Magic skill level.
Choose one of the following curse effects:
-
Curse of Misfortune: The target suffers Disadvantage on their next roll each turn (attack, defend, or skill check).
-
Curse of Frailty: The target reduces all Physical and Elemental Defenses by 1.
-
Curse of Rot: At the start of each of the target’s turns, they take 1 necrotic damage.
-
Curse of Silence: The target cannot speak or communicate verbally. This may interfere with casting or commanding.
-
Curse of Clumsiness: The target’s movement is halved.
Stunts
Lingering Malice
The curse lingers beyond its usual limit. When your curse ends, its effects persist for 1 additional hour or until the target completes a long rest.
Twist of Fate
Spend 3 additional mana to impose Disadvantage on all of the target’s rolls involving a single skill of your choice (e.g., Fight, Resolve) for the duration of the curse.
Hexbound Mark
Whenever the cursed target is affected by another spell of yours, they suffer 1d4 additional necrotic damage. This effect can occur once per turn.
Shared Suffering
As long as the curse is active, whenever the target deals damage, you take half of that damage.
Witchbrand
The cursed creature glows faintly in your vision and cannot become invisible or hidden from you. This effect lasts as long as the curse is active.
