Demons are driven by an insatiable hunger for destruction and chaos. They delight in causing pain and suffering, and they have no regard for the lives of others.
Power-hungry and Ambitious
Demons are also driven by a relentless pursuit of power. They constantly seek to increase their influence and dominance over others, viewing the Shadow plane as a realm ripe for conquest.
Cunning and Manipulative
Despite their monstrous appearance, demons are not without intelligence. They are skilled manipulators, capable of deception and trickery to achieve their goals.

Culture

Hierarchy and Order
Demons have a complex social structure, with a hierarchy based on power and influence. Demons respect strength and dominance, and they are constantly vying for positions of power within their ranks.
Rituals and Sacrifices
Demons engage in dark rituals and sacrifices to appease their demonic gods and maintain their connection to the abyss. These rituals often involve the torture and consumption of living beings.
Conquest and Domination
Demons’ primary goal is to conquer and dominate the Shadow plane. They view the other races as inferior and prey upon them relentlessly.
Soul Shards
Fragments of captured souls of demons that demons use as currency. The more powerful the soul, the greater its value.

Demon Traits

You have a number of Abyssal Essence that you can spend to acquire physical and supernatural features listed below. The number of Abyssal Essence points equals to n × (n + 1) / 2, where n is equal to your Demon skill level.

Physical Features

Bioluminescence (1 Points)
You emit a soft glow or vibrant light from your body, granting you visibility in the dark.
Beak (1 Points)
You have a sharp beak, capable of delivering a powerful bite or peck. On a hit, you deal physical damage equal to your Demon skill level.
Claws (1 Points)
You have a set of claws, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. On a hit, you deal physical damage equal to your Demon skill level.
Hooves (1 Points)
You possess cloven hooves, granting them increased stability and. You gain a bonus to your movement equal to your Demon skill.
Horn (1 Points)
You have a prominent horn or a set of horns, which you can use to make unarmed strikes. On a hit, you deal physical damage equal to your Demon skill level.
Infernal Coating (1 Point)
The demon’s skin is enveloped in an infernal coating, providing bonuses and penalties accordingly. Choose one of the following:
  • Exoskeleton
    You possess a tough exoskeleton that makes your bulkier and more resilient against physical attacks. You gain a bonus to your Physique skill equal to half of your Demon skill level (rounded up). However, the bulk hinders your agility, imposing a -1 penalty to your Athletics skill. Additionally, conductive properties of the exoskeleton makes you more vulnerable to shock damage, imposing a -1 penalty to your Lightning Defense.
  • Feathers
    Your feathers embody an ever-changing display of emberfall, a dynamic dance of ethereal flames what weave through their plumage. This mesmerizing phenomenon subtly affects the immediate surroundings, leaving an indelible mark on the battlefield. You have a bonus to your Athletics skill equal to half of your Demon level (rounded up). However, the constant display makes you more noticeable, imposing a -1 penalty to your Stealth skill. Additionally, the fiery nature of the emberfall makes you more susceptible to water-based attacks, resulting in a -1 penalty to your Cold Defense.
  • Fur
    Your fur allows you to blend seamlessly with shadows, granting you enhanced stealth. When your fur color matches the environment, you gain a bonus to your Stealth skill equal to half of your Demon skill level (rounded up). However, the fur is susceptible to fire, imposing a -1 penalty to your Fire Defense.
  • Scales
    Your scales form an imposing armor, providing enhanced protection against physical and elemental threats. You gain a bonus to your Physical and Elemental Defense equal to half of your Demon skill level (rounded up).
Prehensile Tongue (1 Points)
You have a long, dexterous tongue that can be used for grabbing, lashing, or tasting the environment. You have a bonus equal to your Demon skill level relating tasks that require the use of your tongue.
Tail (1 Points)
You have a prehensile tail for added dexterity or combat maneuvers. You gain +1 to your Athletics skill.
Elasticity (2 Points)
Your body is incredibly elastic, allowing them to stretch, contort, or squeeze through tight spaces.
Multiple Eyes (2 Points)
You have more than the usual number of eyes, granting them superior vision. You gain a bonus to your Notice skill equal to your Demon skill level divided by 2 (rounded down).
Multiple Legs (2 Points)
You have extra legs, granting you enhanced speed, agility, or stability. You gain a bonus to your movement equal to your Demon skill.
Spikes or Barbs (2 Points)
You have sharp spikes or barbs protruding from their body, allowing for additional defensive capabilities or intimidation. When you get touched by another creature, including attacks, the creature takes damage equal to your Demon skill level. Additionally, this ability has 1 armor penetration.
Multiple Arms (3 Points)
You possess additional arms, allowing you to perform multiple actions simultaneously or wield extra weapons.
Regeneration (4 Points)
You possess a rapid healing ability, allowing you to recover from injuries quickly. Whenever you consume a creature’s heart, immediately regenerate your missing limbs and recover your consequence boxes.
Wings (5 Points)
Your demon character has functional wings that allow flight. You can fly 10 meters in one turn.

Supernatural Features

Demon Senses (1 Points)
Your infernal essence attunes to the unique energy signatures of fellow demons. This infernal sense allows them to perceive the presence of other demons, fostering an instinctive connection within the demon community.
Pact Maker (1 Points)
You can form pacts or bargains with any sentient creature for favors or services. Both parties must hold their ends on the bargain, or suffer the consequences indicated by the pact.
Persuasive Charm (1 Points)
You possess an alluring charm or seductive nature. You gain a bonus to all your rolls that is related to charming or seducing equal to your Demon skill level.
Psychic Abilities (1 Point)
You possess telepathy, allowing you to read minds. You gain a +1 bonus to your social rolls that requires you to understand the emotional state of a character.
Whispering Tongues (1 Point)
You can understand and speak any language, even those long forgotten or divine in nature.
Aura of Corruption (2 Points)
You emit an aura of corruption or decay, which can weaken the resolve or health of those mortals who come near. Any mortal that comes into 10 meters of you must make a Physique skill check contested by your Demon skill level. On a failure, the creature cannot use its physical stress boxes equal to your Demon skill level.
Curse Dispelling (2 Points)
You have the ability to dispel curses or magical afflictions, granting them a reputation as a curse-breaker or healer.
Shadow Teleportation (2 Points)
You can control and shape shadows, using them for transportation. You can use your action and spend 1 fate point to teleport to another shadowy region within 30 meters of you.
Terrifying Presence (2 Points)
You have an aura of fear that unnerves others. Any creature that sees you for the first time must immediately make an Will skill check contested by your Demon skill level. On a failure, the creature is frightened.
Astral Projection (3 Points)
You can project your consciousness or spirit into the astral plane, granting you access to hidden knowledge or the ability to interact with spirits.
Dark Magic (3 Points)
You can tap into dark, otherworldly magic for offensive spells. All magical elemental damage gains a bonus to equal to your Demon skill level.
Fire Affinity (3 Points)
Your body burns in flames and you have a natural affinity for fire, allowing them to manipulate and control it. All damages you deal gains a bonus Fire damage equal to your Demon skill level. Additionally, you have a bonus to your Fire defense equal to your Demon skill level.
Infernal Whispering (3 Points)
Harnessing the abyssal currents that flow through the demonic realm, demons with the Infernal Whispering ability can establish telepathic connections with one another. This silent form of communication transcends language barriers, enabling demons to share thoughts, strategies, and information seamlessly, fostering a unified and interconnected demonic network.
Phasing (3 Points)
You can use your action to pass through solid objects or become intangible for a 1 minute, allowing you to avoid attacks or move through barriers. You can move through solid objects as if it was difficult terrain. This effect ends when you attack or cast any spell. You cannot use this effect for 1 minute after it ends early. You cannot choose to end this effect voluntarily when you or any part of your body is inside a solid object.
Soul Drain (3 Points)
You can temporarily drain the life force or energy from others. The creature cannot be an undead.
Enhanced Senses (4 Points)
You have enhanced senses, such as heightened perception. You gain a bonus to your Notice skill equal to your Demon skill level. Additionally, you cannot be surprised.
Invisibility (4 Points)
You can become invisible at will or blend into shadows.
Shape-shifting (4 Points)
You can assume different forms or mimic other creatures. The creature must be one that you met in your life and cannot be one of your kind. All of your stats stay the same. Additionally, you cannot benefit from Physical Demon traits while you are not in your demon form.
Soul Consuming (5 Points)
Whenever you consume a creature, you can choose to take its best skill as a bonus to your own.
